Double Mountain Quilt

Last year Meghan asked me to test her Double Mountain Quilt pattern.img_2239

I challenged myself to use only fabrics from my current stash. I finished the top pretty quickly then set it aside not really having a purpose for the quilt in mind. I figured that would come.

My oldest actually said, “Mom we should have some quilts ready to go in case someone needs one.” She’s brilliant, that one.

We’ve had this crazy cold spell here in SoCal, and our church’s mercy ministry feeds a good number people that are homeless.  Many of them have expressed how very cold they are at night.   I decided to finish this top, practice some new quilting skills,

And give it away.   Some might think it serendipitous that I used CrazyMomQuilts “Good Neighbors” Fabric…  I added a double layer of Warm and Natural batting, and the backing is a sheet from Target that I had on hand.  Then I used Emily’s machine binding tutorial to finish it up.  First time for that too…  img_2253
